In this article, I’m going to teach you how to get prescribed Suboxone. I remember when I first became addicted to opiates. I used pills for two months straight. Then one day I couldn’t get any more. All my dealers were out.
The next few days were HELL ON EARTH.
I was experiencing acute opiate withdrawal from using over 100 mg of oxycodone and other opiates daily for over 60 days.
Finally, I was able to get a bunch of Valium, and that really helped the anxiety and insomnia go away. It also helped me get an appetite so eating some food really helped.
But just a few days later, one of my dealers re-upped and was stocked and ready to sell me pills again. Despite my conscience telling me “NO,” I went against my better judgment and bought pills, this time fully knowing what I was getting myself into.
However, black market OxyContin, oxycodone, Percocet, Norco, and other RX opiates were extremely expensive, and I made less than $10 an hour at my job. I needed to keep taking opiates because I worked at a high-demanding job, and I was a single dad to a baby that was only a few months old.
The opiates gave me energy and made me feel happy in life, but I could no longer afford to buy pills and take what I needed daily to prevent opiate withdrawal symptoms.
Fortunately, one of my dealers started selling 8 mg Suboxone tablets (another medication w/same active drug as Suboxone), and back then they were only $10 on the black market.
Suboxone to the Rescue
My life got better instantly while taking Suboxone. Now I was only spending $10 a day to prevent withdrawal symptoms and cravings. Plus, the Suboxone gave me energy. I was energized, happy, and motivated on Suboxone.
Many of my opiate addict friends were also now taking Suboxone they bought from our dealer, and he was buying them from addicts that were selling most of their medication and only using a little for themselves.
Suboxone was awesome for a while until I tried to get off it a few months later.
I had no energy on my third day without Suboxone, and I needed to work and take care of my baby that was only around six months old at that point.
So in the short-term Suboxone can be a true miracle, but many people end up stuck on the medication longer than they originally wanted to be due to having difficulty coming off the drug completely.
How To Get Prescribed Subutex – Overview
If you’re like I was and need to keep working, taking care of children, and tending to other important responsibilities, then you may be wanting to learn how to get prescribed Subutex.
In this article, I’ll educate you on how to get prescribed Subutex.
I’ll also provide links to other articles that will enable you to do your due diligence before you make this big and important decision.
Thus, without further ado, it’s time to teach you how to get prescribed Subutex.
But first, I believe it’s important to have a good understanding of how Subutex works. So we shall start there…
How To Get Prescribed Subutex – Subutex Overview
Subutex is a brand name for the prescription drug buprenorphine. Buprenorphine is a controlled substance and semisynthetic opioid derivative of thebaine.
Buprenorphine attaches and binds to the same opioid receptors in the brain and other parts of the body that drugs like heroin, oxycodone, hydrocodone, morphine, and other opioids bind to. Once it attaches to these receptors, it mimics the effects that opioid drugs produce (though it’s not as powerful).
For this reason, buprenorphine is known as a “partial opioid agonist.”
The other opiate drugs I just mentioned are known as “full opioid agonists,” because they activate the receptors in a stronger and more complete way than buprenorphine. See the illustration below.
Opiate Withdrawal 101
To further illustrate why Suboxone works so well, I’d like to give you the basics of the opioid withdrawal syndrome. If an individual continues using opioids after a tolerance has been established, they will eventually develop a physiological dependence.
Dependence develops when the neurons adapt to the repeated drug exposure and only function normally in the presence of the drug.
When a dependent individual abruptly stops taking opioids (leading opioid-blood concentration to fall below the required level), the now opioid-tolerant central nervous system (CNS) goes haywire.
With no inhibitive stimulation to satisfy receptors, the pathways of the CNS fire signals strenuously, performing at a level much higher than pre-dependence levels.
Now the locus coeruleus responds by triggering the autonomic fight or flight response.
What results is known as the opioid withdrawal syndrome, and it’s one of the most agonizing experiences an individual could ever go through.
Some of the most common symptoms of opioid withdrawal include:
- Anxiety
- Fatigue
- Insomnia
- Anhedonia (inability to feel pleasure)
- Diarrhea
- Achy muscles and limbs
- Teary eyes
- A runny nose
- Sneezing
- Gastrointestinal distress
- Irritability
- Hot and cold sweats and chills
- Goosebumps
- Vomiting
- Restless Leg Syndrome (RLS)
A quick fix for stopping this syndrome is to use Subutex for opiate withdrawal. After an individual takes a dose of Subutex, the buprenorphine quickly binds to the opioid receptors, and if enough is taken, withdrawal symptoms and opiate cravings are eliminated or drastically reduced.
How To Get Prescribed Subutex – Subutex Treatment Approaches
There are a few different ways to use Subutex. Depending on your unique situation in life including your level of opioid dependence severity, one of these methods of using Subutex should work best for you.
Here are the Subutex treatment approaches:
- Detox – You could just use it for a few days to a week at home or at an inpatient detox center to reduce acute opiate withdrawal symptoms.
- Short-Term – You could use Suboxone for 1-6 months by getting stabilized and then doing a Subutex taper.
- Maintenance – Many people end up using Subutex Maintenance, which is 6-12 months to several years long, and you can even stay on Subutex for life if you choose.
As I said, depending on your unique situation in life, one of these Subutex treatment approaches should resonate with you the most. There are pros and cons of each. The most important thing for you to know is this:
The longer you stay on Subutex, the harder it may be to come off.
Though with the right treatment approach to help you get off Subutex when the time comes, it’s totally doable.
How To Get Prescribed Subutex – Choosing the Right Subutex Provider
Now we’ve reached the section of the article where you’re going to learn how to get prescribed Subutex. If you live in a big city, your options to get prescribed Subutex are going to be vast. If you live in a small town, you may get lucky and have a Subutex provider close by, or you may have to drive an hour or more to get prescribed Subutex.
There are 3 places where you can get prescribed Suboxone:
- Inpatient Detox – You stay at the facility for several days to a week (approximately) and a doctor will prescribe you Subutex for acute withdrawal.
- Outpatient Treatment – You can choose to become a patient in a treatment program that offers Subutex in addition to the required counseling sessions and drug tests.
- Private Doctor – These days, many doctors have completed the required training and certification to prescribe Subutex in their private practice offices.
If you really want to know how to get prescribed Subutex, you just do a bit of research then make some calls. For instance, if you’re looking for a private physician to prescribe you Subutex, you would Google “Subutex doctors near me.”
If you want to go to an Outpatient Program (OP) for your Subutex, you would Google “opiate treatment programs near me” or “outpatient treatment programs near me” or “medication-assisted treatment near me.”
Finally, if you want to get prescribed Subutex at an Inpatient Detox facility, you would Google “inpatient detox near me.”
After you’re done gathering a list of Subutex providers, you start making phone calls. Begin with the Subutex prescribers that are closest to you and when you get people on the phone, tell them the details of your opioid dependence and ask them if you qualify for Subutex treatment.
If they say yes, ask them about the price, the details of the Subutex treatment, and finally, when you can come in for treatment (if you decide they are a good fit for your needs).
How To Get Prescribed Subutex – Final Thoughts
Now that you know how to get prescribed Subutex, I hope this alleviated some concern for you. Now you have the step-by-step system for getting prescribed Subutex.
Here are a few key concepts to remember:
- If you’re addicted to opiates or opioids, it should be very easy to qualify for Subutex treatment.
- Subutex is often a few hundred dollars or more per month, which is well worth it in my opinion.
- Many people that use Subutex end up on the medication for longer than they intended due to the ease of staying on it.
- Many Subutex patients have a very difficult time getting off the medication once they’ve been using it for a couple of months.
- Patients that have been on Subutex for years often tell me that it feels nearly impossible to get off Subutex, and in these cases, I tell them to check out my free ebook How To Taper Off Suboxone Like a Champion. (The title says Suboxone but the plan works the exact same for Subutex).
Additionally, I also have many people on Subutex, Suboxone, oxycodone, hydrocodone, methadone, and other opioids join my Ultimate Opiate Recovery Program or my Opiate Addiction Support Coaching Program.
There are many ways to recover from opiate addiction, and different approaches resonate with different people. Do what feels right for your situation, and don’t let anyone else try to convince you that your way is wrong.

Hi! Great website! I’ve been an addict for 15: years and after many failed attempts with suboxone I finally found a doctor two and half hour drive each way and another two hours for the pharmacy the next day that would prescribe subutex. Even though I pay cash, I feel so much better than taking the suboxone. My problem is I need to find a provider that is closer. I live in wv. I’m in between Charleston and Huntington so can go either way. Please help cut my cost and travel down.

I have been on suboxine for 7 years now and if I go without for even 24 hours I start going through withdrawals. I am in ex streamlining bad health as is and have enough pain and sickness without dealing with the withdrawals but when I go through the withdrawals it feels like I’m going to die. Now I’m having trouble with transportation to and from the doctor to get my medicine and he will not call it out for me until he can see me so I was wondering Is the Subutex something that could help me get off the suboxine or do u have any advice on how I can get off the suboxine and just get away from having to take any of these medicines anymore? I’m just so tired of going through this. Mentally and physically. Please help!!!!
Amy
Subutex and subxone are basically the same only diffrence is in the suboxone has the blockers in it the subutex dose not but the withdraw from either is the same as pills or street drugs only 100 times worse

I absolutely agree. Feel like I’m dying

Hey, please help me!! I am 30yrs old I have 3 kids and I have been an addict since I was 13 yrs old. I been on pain med so long my tolerance is crazy, it takes 10 to 15 30mg oxycodone a day just to be normal, not high. I have tried the suboxone program alot throughout the years, however, it gives me such bad head aches I cannot work and take it, I can’t do what it takes to take care of my 3 babies and take it.. it makes me feel like it’s difficult to breathe, I’ve tried to force myself to take it multiple times throughout the years I just can’t handle how it makes me feel. A friend told me about subutex, give me enough for 2 and half a day for 7 days, so I tried it, I felt great, I felt normal for the first time since I was a young child. So I tried to explain this to my doctor and they refused to switch me.. I have now tried 6 different doctors and clinics trying to get subutex and they all tell me I have to show proof that I’m allergic to naloxone and I have to have Hep C and my levels have to be high before they can write me subutex, instead of suboxone. What can I do? Please help me. I don’t wanna live like this anymore, I honestly couldn’t care less about getting high, I just want to be as normal as I can, and be the best mommy I can be for my babies. What do I do?

I want to start by saying how much I appreciate all the time, effort and work u put into helping and saving lives!!!!!!
I found ur site like 2 years ago n bought the ultimate 2.0 detox plan. I got off heroin megadosing with vitamin C. Unfortunately I relapsed due to the mental part of it but here I am giving it another go. I went to a dr n got prescribed subutex but went home n took it too early n went into precipitated withdrawals. That was a living hell to say the least!!!! So now I’m going to try again. The dr. also prescribed me Clonidine so I was wondering if it is ok if I took the Clonidine and megadosed on Vitamin C again for 2 days n than started the subutex. The dr. Told me I cld take the subutex after 24hours of my last use of heroin but I am just petrified that won’t be long enough so I wld rather wait 48 hrs. The problem is I have a 9 year old daughter that I don’t want her to see me going through that hell for 48 hours and I know I will be lucky if I last 24 hours without making a phone call so I was hoping I cld megadose on vitamin C along with Clonidine for 48 hours n than take subutex?
If someone cld answer me as soon as u get a chance I wld greatly appreciate it. I am starting this journey in a few days cuz my cousin is coming to help with my daughter n he can only stay a few days. I know u r extremely busy so I just hope u get a chance to respond in time 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

You’re too kind!! Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it. And to answer your question:
Yes, clonidine and mega-C is a great combo and could make the waiting period until you take Subutex a lot more bearable. I used clonidine before for withdrawal and it wasn’t too helpful when I took .1 mg, but when I upped it to .3 per dose I got a lot of relief. So with vitamin C and clonidine if you get the dosages right for your situation, it could help you feel okay.
Christina
Thank you so much for getting back to me!!!! I had no idea and as I was reading the comment I thought this person sounds a lot like me 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
I will up the Clonidine. I was hoping to get clonopin and
gabbapentin but was unable to.
This time I am using the lypo-spheric vitamin C b/c I was nervous about the Imodium if I took the other vitamin C, since Imodium is an opiate that works on the intestines.I didn’t know if it wld have a negative effect with the subutex.
Thanks again and I will post my progress.
Matt Finch
My pleasure!!! Good luck with it and you can do this!!!
Christina
So….. I took the Lypo-Spheric Vitamin C and Clonidine for 48 hours. By the 2nd day I was going out of my mind with boredom. I didn’t want to watch 1 more second of TV but had no motivation to do anything else. I had no way of measuring how far I was into my withdrawals as far as the COWS due to the fact I physically felt fine b/c of Vitamin C. I thought being that I did my last line of heroin 48 hours prior I wld be ok to take my subutex. I only took 2 mgs. I started feeling much better mentally I started watching a movie and was content. Well exactly an hour after taking the 2 mg subutex my legs n arms started bugging out and I had to run to the bathroom!!!!! I took more vitamin C and still no relief. I ended making a phone call b/c I was afraid I was going to have a repeat of the last time where I went thru hell all night with my arms and legs and I didn’t want it to get too late into the night n my guy wasn’t around.
Unfortunately I am back at square 1. I’m not sure why 48 hours wasn’t long enough. The dr. told me to wait 24 hours and I waited 48. Not to sure what to do from here. Obviously 48 hours is not long enough. Without the vitamin C there is no way I can do it. Once my legs n arms start going I throw in the towel.
Any suggestions???????
I don’t know where to go from here
RAQUEL
How much vitamin c were u taking?

What are the differences between subutex and Suboxone I know there’s a blocker in Suboxone but I also know there’s not a blocker in the Subutex why is one doctor going to prescribe Suboxone over Subutex are Subutex over Suboxone is one more expensive than the other does one work better than the other does the chemical that blocks the opiate is that what makes people not want to Suboxone over the Subutex what kind of characteristics make it an undesirable drug besides the obvious blocker don’t know if any of this make sense but can you elaborate please

Please help me. I’m desperate to get clean and have no idea where to begin. I’m 25, have a full time job and really need to start saving money to get on top of rent, student loans, credit card debt etc… I’ve tried taking suboxone on my own earlier this year but got thrown into precipitated withdrawals which was absolute hell. I’m so afraid to be in that situation again but so desperate to get clean. I’ve heard that subutex doesn’t throw you into withdrawals like suboxone does due to the lack of naloxone in it. If this is true, that’s what I need. Thank you
Daniela
Hi I work in the restaurant industry. I worked 2 jobs and run myself to the ground. My friend started giving me 10 oc. I found myself depending on it because I was hurting so bad. But then he could not give like he did and I have days I’m out and no one tells you what it feels like to go without them. I would pay any price for anything just to feel better. It’s a horrible cycle. I’m looking to get the Subutex so I can at least function at work and quit the cycle. I don’t have insurance but I’m hoping to at least try so I can go to work and figure this out. I read this article and it’s so true on opiates. It sucks trying to get off of them. I’m hoping I can try to save money to c someone about it. The worst part is trying to explain why you feel like crap when u can’t get anything. I wish I never tried to deal with physical pain this way. I’m looking for a place e that help right now in the Seattle area that I can affford. Thank you for your article. It’s so real and true. People should get educated on opiates before taking. It really takes a toll on life. I’m hoping I can try to move past this, and just feel normal again.

I recently found out that I’m pregnant and desperate to get off of opiates. I’m in desperate need of help. I have suboxone and have heard that it is both good and bad to take while pregnant. Any ideas? I’ve read in forums of pregnant moms that have taken suboxone and baby came out fine. Do you know if its safe to take? I really want to quit as soon as possible but I heard that quitting cold turkey could be really bad for baby. I don’t want to do anything that could harm the baby. I also heard that telling my doctor would get CPS involved and I don’t want that to happen either. I already feel super shitty that I had been doing opiates being pregnant but I didn’t even know that I was pregnant while I was doing it. Anyone have any ideas that can help me? I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance!
Ash
I took Subutex during my pregnancy and my baby came out fine! I didnt use my entire pregnancy, I did slowly taper off before 8 months. My dr said not to try and withdrawl, stay on them until birth, but I didn’t want to risk my baby having withdrawl symptoms bc then DCF would be involved. If your honest with your doctor while pregnant, and both of you are clean at birth, then DCF can’t take your baby.
Still remember there are ALWAYS risks while using medication while pregnant. DCF may also make you take counceling. It varies in every state.
I also felt super guilty myself, but I had to remember that its not heroin or roxys, etc. People will still judge you, but block that out. I hope you have a great pregnancy and keep your head up! Having a baby will change your life for the better!
