Nutrition is one of the most important things in the world. And it becomes even more important while you’re either on an opioid taper or after you’ve detoxed from opioids.

There are many foods and beverages that you can consume which will help you feel better while you’re getting off opioids.

And one of the easiest and fastest ways to get this nutrition in your body during this process is to drink the smoothie I’m about to show you.

So read on to learn how to make a delicious smoothie that is easy-to-make, fast, affordable, and helpful for opioid recovery!!!

Morning Bliss

The name of this smoothie is “Morning Bliss.” If you drink this smoothie for breakfast every morning, you’ll start each day off with an abundance of micronutrients that will help you in numerous ways.

Here are some of the benefits of drinking Morning Bliss for breakfast:

  • Energy
  • Enhanced Immune System
  • Pain Relief
  • Positive Mood
  • Relaxation
  • Mental/Emotional Well-Being

When you give your body the right nutrients, your brain works better.

And when your brain works better, you work better.

One of the main reasons so many people have anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues is because their brain and body are lacking the right nutrients.

The vast majority of Americans eat too much crap, while simultaneously not getting enough fiber, omega-3 fatty acids, and micronutrients to name a few.

The Morning Bliss smoothie is totally loaded with some awesome ingredients that contain plenty of the right nutrients to help you feel better while coming off opioids.

Morning Bliss Recipe

Now I’m going to teach you what the ingredients of Morning Bliss are, what benefits they provide, and how to make the smoothie. So get ready!!!

Here are the Morning Bliss ingredients:

  1. 12 ounces of water (spring or alkaline are my favorites)
  2. A big handful of either wild or organic blueberries (fresh or frozen)
  3. 1 medium-sized organic banana
  4. 1 tsp of organic matcha powder
  5. 1 tsp of raw organic maca root powder
  6. 1 tsp of organic mucuna pruriens powder
  7. 1 serving of a powdered organic greens mixture
  8. 1 serving of organic beetroot powder

I know this is a lot of ingredients, but I swear… if you buy this stuff and drink this smoothie every morning it will help you recover from opioid dependence in a much easier way.

Here are the reasons why this smoothie can help you feel better while coming off opioids:

  • Water helps to hydrate your body. Most people don’t get enough of this vital nutrient daily.
  • Wild blueberries are packed with anthocyanins, a powerful water-soluble antioxidant. Organic blueberries are great as well, but wild blueberries have much higher levels of anthocyanins.
  • Bananas are high in potassium, a mineral that can help with restless legs. Bananas also help the smoothie to taste better!
  • Matcha powder is the strongest form of green tea. It contains a small amount of caffeine, and high amounts of L-Theanine, a non-dietary amino acid that increases the neurotransmitters dopamine, GABA, and serotonin. All of these neurotransmitters help your brain repair the neurotransmitter erosion that opioid dependence causes.

  • Maca root powder helps to provide energy, stamina, a positive mood, and enhanced libido, and since it’s an adaptogen, it also helps your body adapt to stress.
  • Mucuna pruriens is a tropical legume that has high levels of L-Dopa in it. L-Dopa converts to dopamine in the brain. While you’re getting off opioids, dopamine levels plummet, and that causes depression, anxiety, exhaustion, hopelessness, and other symptoms.
  • Powdered greens significantly increase your alkalinity and make your body less acidic. When your body is alkaline, you have a lot more energy.
  • Beetroot powder increases nitric oxide (NO) levels. Nitric oxide is a molecule that increases energy, decreases pain, improves nutrient absorption, boosts immunity, and enhances sexual function.

Morning Bliss Step-by-Step

I hope you’re excited about trying this smoothie. I drink it often and simply can’t recommend it enough for opioid recovery. If you’re still confused on how to make Morning Bliss, this section will make things easier.

I’ve already provided you with the ingredients and amounts, and now I’ll teach you how to make Morning Bliss step-by-step.

Here’s how to make Morning Bliss:

  1. Pour 12 ounces of water into the blender (you can also use unsweetened organic almond milk instead of water).
  2. Add all of the powdered superfoods (matcha, mucuna, maca, greens, and beetroot).
  3. Add the blueberries.
  4. Add the banana.
  5. Add a handful of ice if you want to make it more refreshing.
  6. Put the lid on the blender.
  7. Blend on low until all of the ingredients start to mix together.
  8. Blend on high for 45-60 seconds.
  9. Consume!!!

Could I substitue DLPA or L-Tyrosine for mucuna? If so, which, and what dose would you suggest?

Could I also add L-Theanine directly? If so, what dose would you suggest?

PS: I’m also trying to find a way to combine Offield, Vitamin C/D, and Magnesium (all efferfescent powder), with a tea (green, or Tulsi/Holy Basil Green, or both), for a refreshing drink during the day. Any ideas as to whether this is possible? Could Elmidrol be part of this? CBD/CBG? Just looking for your thoughts. 🤙🏽

Could Morning Bliss be made ahead and frozen? I’d be making it for someone else, (my elderly mother), and bringing it to her so she could thaw and drink later. Or should we just buy her the Elimidrol, since it’s easier to use?

Can you drink morning bliss even after you are through withdrawal. Is there any time limit on how long to continue with morning bliss ?

I bought my wild blueberries frozen at Walmart. They were $9.99 for a very large bag.

It’s good. Really. I was shocked. Blueberry & banana cover the other flavors. A little bit of the Super Beets (energy plus w/green tea) I put in there creeps thru.. but that stuff tastes alright on its own. Anyhow, I too was skeptical.. not gonna lie.. & I eat organic and super healthy already.. all my life.. yes, I was an exercising, organic, salad & fruit eating heroin addict.. balance y’all😂… This AM I even started adding Dr. Axe’s multi strain collagen to it since that such a vital nutrient lacking in American diet .. & let me tell you I’ve had trouble hiding that one in the past. Thrilled. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ …
    Matt, 🙏❤️

I love it!! I had a friend when I lived in New York that ate super healthy every meal, yet he was an alcoholic and did drugs all the time. It was so unique and hilarious. Derf was his nickname. I miss that guy. And I LOVE collagen. Haven’t tried Dr. Axe’s brand yet but now I will. I’ve been using collagen protein to all my morning smoothies for the past few weeks. I can’t remember the brand. I can’t wait to try the one you’re using. Thanks for commenting on the taste and for that new supplement brand to try. 🙂

“Derf” lol🤪.. hey thx for your reply! I want to report I am still drinking the epic Sunrise smoothie every AM.. 🥰I really think I ❤️ it more every day! Goes well with Kyani sunrise. I genuinely look forward to it. Recently, I made a 2nd batch in the afternoon after feeling worn and it totally gave me a mental/ physical perk up.🙌 And yes, Dr. Axe’s multi collagen protein is supreme!! Dr. Axe is incredibly knowledgeable in nutrition if you haven’t checked him out. Great newsletters. But, yeah- 5 different sources of collagen making it complete. It’s the eggshell and fish peptides which made it hard in past for me to hide in simple hot coffee (as often recommended!). Smoothie is no brainer. My sense of smell is annoyingly extreme.. & if I cannot detect in this smoothie..no one would. I also have been adding/hiding in my homemade sugar-free cold brew frappe (cold brew concentrate, cacao powder, stevia, ice.. I also add Choc-zero syrup from Amazon🍫😋.) Totally low calorie, free of sugar & any cow/nut milks… Shockingly delicious🤦‍♀️. Thrilled to recommend something awesome back atcha 🙌.. With a lil 🍫☕️bonus.. 😉

Hi Matt – is there a specific greens powder you like? There are a lot out there and obviously some are better than others. Would love to hear your recommendation. Also I have heard of wild blueberries. Where do you buy them? I can buy organic blueberries, but haven’t seen the wild version. Thanks so much!

      Hi Annette,

There are a lot of great brands at Whole Foods and on Amazon.com. Right now I’ve been using the one by Garden of Life, called Super Green Formula. Everything by Garden of Life is really good. I’m also using their Raw Probiotics supplement which is also very helpful for health and wellness. I’ve never found Wild Blueberries fresh, but at Whole Foods they have them frozen in one of the frozen foods sections where they also have lots of other fruits. I get Wild Blueberries for Morning Bliss, and I buy frozen mangoes and pineapples for another smoothie I make. 🙂

        Matt,
So excited. I ordered the ingredients from Amazon.com as you suggested. The Macuna puriens was out of stock. They had some capsules but i did not know if it is comparable. Can I go ahead and start making the smoothies without that ingredient until they carry it or I get is somewhere else. Very excited about this.

Hey Matt, this site.. YOU (!) have been amazing..so incredibly, thoroughly helpful.. I’ve been taking your recs left n right.. now I got everything for this smoothie but powdered greens (will use spinach & kale tomorrow am) but am trying to decide on GOL (Love them too!) powdered greens.. btwn one you said n their organic.. mostly good reviews on both but someone mentioned garlic/onion flavor and I looked and they both have that contained within. 😖 .. Obvy you are recommending .. & said smoothie tastes great, but wanted to throw that out there.. I imagine it only tastes gross trying to drink alone?? Thx again for everything! You should receive a 🥇😁..

Glad you like the info!! And thanks for the kind words. I’ve never tasted it alone, I only mix it with smoothies were the concentration of greens is really low. I’ve never found a green powder that I can stand when drinking it by itself.

Yes, there is a really awesome powder that has a ton of great nutrients in it, which you just add to water then drink. Doesn’t taste anywhere near as good as the Morning Bliss smoothie, but it works very well. Here is my article on it.
