We live in a wonderful time to be alive. Sure there’s a lot of crazy stuff going on in the world, but just think about all of the things we have to be grateful for. I get emotional just thinking about all the beauty we have around us.
Our Mother Earth has been around for 4.54 billion years, making our average life expectancy of 76 to 81 seemingly insignificant. But it IS significant. It’s true that life is short and goes by fast, and that’s why it’s so important to have an extraordinary existence!
Here are 5 amazing steps you can take to live the life of your dreams after you quit opiates.
1. Get Clear
What do you want out of life? For yourself? For your family? If you don’t know what you want, chances are you won’t get it! Get clear and focused on how you want your ideal life to look. I encourage you to write out how you want the following areas to look: health, fitness, relationships, spirituality, recreation, finances, emotions, career and whatever else you want to focus on.
2. Take Action
OK, so now you have a detailed summary of your ideal life. What comes next? ACTION!!! The only thing that will prevent you from taking immediate action is fear. Unfortunately, fear rules most peoples lives. Maybe it’s not even conscious. Maybe people make up excuses why they can’t change, yet underneath is an unconscious fear of failure.
It’s OK to be afraid, because you can still take action. That’s where courage comes along. Courage is the ability to take action in spite of fear. What are you afraid of? Write down all of the fears you have about taking the steps necessary to change your life. What will your life be like 5 years from now if you don’t take action? What will it be like if you do?
The next time you’re contemplating a decision in which you’re debating whether or not to take charge of yourself or to make your own choices, ask yourself an important question: How long am I going to be dead?” – Dr. Wayne Wayne
3. Don’t Give Up!
People who are living the life of their dreams don’t have the words quit or quitting in their vocabulary. Anyone can get clear and take action. But what happens when things don’t work out? When they don’t go your way? Do you give up? Do you say things like “it wasn’t meant to be?”
I will tell you right now, the only thing separating those who are living the life of their dreams from those that are not is this: they keep trying until they succeed. It doesn’t matter how many times they fail. They are focused, clear and determined, and they simply don’t stop until they’ve reached their goal. Then they make a new one! If you get frustrated or overwhelmed because the actions you’ve taken aren’t getting you the results you desire, simply change your approach.
Don’t be afraid to change your strategy if something is not working. Change things up as many times as you need to. If you stay focused and never give up, you’ll be well on your way to living a magnificent life.
4. Stay Grateful
There will be times when you feel stressed, overloaded and resentful. Take a deep breath and exhale slowly. Soften the muscles in your face. Relax your eyes, mouth and tongue. Close your eyes and think about something you are truly grateful for. What in your life is incredible? Who do you love with all of your heart?
When you have changed your state to one of gratitude, open your eyes and start the day over. Now you can take on the day renewed and cleansed. Practicing this exercise regularly will condition it into your nervous system and automate the process. Eventually you will notice yourself becoming stressed and the gratitude exercise will fire off without your conscious awareness.
5. Be Of Service
Help others and give something back. I guarantee you will discover that while public service improves the lives and the world around you, it’s greatest reward is the enrichment and new meaning it will bring your own life.” – Arnold Schwarzeneggar
Being of service is an essential component to the journey towards life fulfillment. Although most people focus on getting love, fulfillment occurs from giving love. There is nothing more pure and good than having a loving heart, and expressing that love by helping others. Start finding ways you can be of service to others, and watch your happiness, health and love grow to the heights of a giant redwood tree.
